Empowering the Future Workforce at the KUSOSA Mentorship Program

On March 7, 2025, AfriYouth Care Group had the privilege of partnering with the Kenyatta University Sociology Students Association (KUSOSA) for a transformative Mentorship Program under the theme: "Beyond the Classroom: How Humanities and Social Science Skills Shape the Future Workforce." Held at the Graduate School Seminar Room, the event brought together industry leaders, aspiring professionals, and changemakers to explore how social sciences and humanities play a crucial role in shaping careers and society.

Representing AfriYouth Care Group, our CEO, Gorffly Mokua, took the stage to inspire students with a powerful message on leadership, governance, and the future of work. As a passionate youth leader and advocate for climate action, governance, and youth empowerment, he emphasized the importance of critical thinking, ethical leadership, and social responsibility in navigating the professional world. He reminded the audience that leadership is not defined by titles but by impact, urging them to use their education as a tool for meaningful change. His words resonated deeply, sparking conversations about how young people can shape policies, drive sustainable change, and redefine leadership in the modern workforce.

The event also featured two distinguished industry professionals who shared their experiences and career insights. Ole Kitambei, a Tax Manager at PwC, spoke about financial compliance, strategic decision-making, and career growth, offering students a glimpse into the corporate world. Ms. Lois Kinya Thuranira, a Corporate Communication Officer at the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, shared her expertise in public communication, development roles, and navigating the energy sector. Their journeys reinforced the idea that humanities and social sciences are not just academic fields but powerful tools for shaping policies, economies, and global conversations.

Beyond the speeches, the mentorship program provided students with invaluable networking opportunities, career guidance, and inspiration to step into leadership roles. The interactive nature of the discussions encouraged young minds to engage actively, ask questions, and envision how their skills could be applied beyond the classroom. As the event concluded, participants were awarded certificates, symbolizing their commitment to personal and professional growth.

AfriYouth Care Group remains dedicated to empowering young people through leadership, governance, and climate action initiatives. This mentorship program was a testament to our belief that mentorship and education are catalysts for transformative leadership. We are honored to have played a role in this impactful event and look forward to more collaborations that shape the next generation of leaders.
